What is the Fine for Speeding in Duanesburg Town Court?

What is the Fine for Speeding in Duanesburg Town Court? One of the more common questions asked by clients at our office is: “What is the fine amount?“.  Many people, especially out-of-state drivers, expect to see a fine amount listed on the ticket itself. However, New York speeding tickets (and all other traffic tickets) have no statement of a fine amount list on the ticket itself. This is because state Vehicle & Traffic law gives power to the local justices to issue fines within certain parameters.

In this particular case, the client was charged with a 4 point SPEED IN ZONE violation in the Duanesburg Town Court. A judge could have issued a fine anywhere from $175.00 to $385.00 if this person were to have plead guilty to original charges. We speculate that thousands of motorists unknowingly accumulate damaging points and pay a higher fine by deciding to plead guilty to original charges without first consulting with an attorney about their rights and options.

With the help of a good past driving history, our client was able to plead guilty to a reduced charge – a 0 point parking ticket (Section 1201a of NYS V&T law) – and was issued a fine of $150.00 total.

The “1201 0A STOP/PARK” is a parking ticket that does not usually even show up on a driver’s Abstract of Operator’s Record and does not add any points.

In the end, the fine amount for speeding in Duanesburg or any other place in New York state depends on the actions you take regarding your case, including hiring a traffic lawyer with experience with state law and local policy.
